Store data the app reads: orders (amounts, status, products, discount codes, payment method name, UTM tags and the landing page path), products and variants (price, cost, stock), customer counts (number of orders and amount spent per customer id, marketing consent state), abandoned checkout totals, and Shopify Analytics totals (sales, sessions, conversion). This store data powers the app's Store tab; if the store is also a Monastic Media client, the same numbers appear in the reports Monastic Media prepares for that store.
What the store data sync never stores: customer names, email addresses, phone numbers or street addresses.
AI Order & Support Agent (the storefront chat): when the store owner turns the chat on, what a shopper types into it is stored with that conversation. That can include the email address or phone number the shopper gives so the store's team can reply, and the order number they ask about. An order is described only after the email or phone typed in the chat matches the order; to check that, the app reads that one order's email address and phone numbers (the order's phone and its shipping phone) from Shopify at that moment and does not store them. Replies are written by Anthropic's Claude through the Claude API or, when that is unavailable, by an open AI model running on Cloudflare Workers AI, using only the store's own policy pages, pages and order data. Neither Anthropic nor Cloudflare uses this data to train AI models. The store owner sees their own conversations, including any contact a shopper left, in the app's Chats tab.
Shopify Flow: if the store owner builds a Shopify Flow workflow with this app's triggers, Flow receives the hand-off reason, the order number and the shopper contact for that conversation, inside the owner's own store.
Store channels: When a store connects Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp or a support mailbox, Monastic Media processes the messages and comments sent to that store only to answer them on the store's behalf; Monastic Media staff can read a channel's conversations only if the store switches on monitoring for that channel.
Phones: a store can connect the Monastic Media phone app from On your phone; a phone sees only that store's numbers, chats (contact shortened) and files, and is signed out by Disconnect or uninstall.
Our own advertising: To measure our own advertising, we send Meta (Facebook) a one-way scrambled (SHA-256) copy of your store's contact email and its country when you install the app or pay an app charge. Meta uses it only to tell us which of our ads brought you; we never send your customers' data, and you can ask us to stop at any time.
Why: to answer shoppers' order and policy questions for the store, hand the rest to the store's team, and show the store owner their sales, orders, AOV and repeat rate in one place.
Access: the store owner and their staff inside Shopify admin. Monastic Media staff see a store's records only to answer that store's support request or, if the store is a Monastic Media client, to prepare that client's own reports. Nothing is sold or shared with third parties for their own use.
Retention and deletion: data is kept while the app is installed. Uninstalling stops all access at once. Shopify's shop/redact request deletes every record for the store, including chats; customers/redact deletes that shopper's chats and removes their link from all order rows. Both are handled on receipt. customers/data_request is logged on receipt; the store owner can ask support@monastic.media for that shopper's records.
Billing: the app is free to install. Charges, if the owner approves them, appear on the store's Shopify bill.
Security: access tokens are encrypted in a secrets vault, expire hourly and are never shown to anyone. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
